My gut reaction is to have a Lady-equivalent entity (currently thinking something from the Shadowfell, perhaps a creature once of the material world but banished centuries ago) attempt to bring back the Circle of Eight, which she had long ago made her slaves. Given the thematic similarities between the Circle of Eight and the Taken-powerful mages capable of singlehandedly changing the tides of battle-I’m aiming to combine the two concepts in my campaign. Many of their names are attached to powerful spells in the 5e PHB-suggesting that they appear in every (or almost every) D&D setting.
The Circle of Eight are eight powerful former adventurers in Greyhawk/the multiverse (including Mordenkainen and Tenser, among others) who seek to balance law and chaos, good and evil.
